Treatment history.....

1ST MAY 2014- Following a violent 15minute nocturnal seizure , scans showed that I had a tennis ball sized brain tumour, located in the frontal lobe of my brain. I had had no warning signs previously.

9TH JUNE 2014- I was admitted to Walton Neurological Centre for a surgery, which consisted of a crainiotomy and debulking of the tumour. 5 days after surgery, I was released home to continue to recover.

Histology showed that the tumour was an Astrocytoma II . I was then put on 3 monthly scans.

After a few succesful scans I was placed on 6 monthly scans.

20TH JULY 2015 - Following a routine MRI scan, it was shown that the tumour had grown at a fast rate. I again went through  an operation at Walton to debulk the tumour. Due to complications I spent 2days in Intensive Care Unit. I was released home after 10 days in hospital.

Histology confirmed that it had progressed into a Glioblastoma Multiforme 4 (GBM4).

20TH AUGUST 2015- I underwent 6 weeks of concurrent dual treatment of Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.  This consisted of 150mg of Temozolomide (CHEMO) every day for 6 weeks.

Monday to Friday the chemotherapy was taken 20mins before my Radiation-therapy.

My Chemotherapy was taken in tablet form, so it can breach the blood brain barrier effectively.

After finishing the 6 weeks course, I had an MRI, where it was shown that the remaining tumour was stable and had stopped growing.

With how aggressive it was this was a huge positive and to be honest a boost for me .

30TH OCTOBER 2015- Commence 6 Cycles of Temozolomide tablets.  A Cycle consistsed of 5 consecutive days of treatment.

Cycle 1 was 300mg dose, with 2mg Dexamethasone (steroids), 8mg Ondansetron (Anti Sickness). admitted to A&E due to constant vommiting after completion of 5 days chemo .
